Happy four months! Today I offer a little birthstory gift to you and your family to thank you for being born in your way, in your home, on your time. I cannot wait until you see you photos one day; I hope they will remind you how far and how wonder-fully you, your mother and your family traveled to get you here.
In a few details, (because it is not really my story to write)I would like to let you know how grateful the beautiful Abbie Wilson and I were to have been able to support your mother through. We filled the dense fog of that night with movies, laughter, conversation, massage, acupressure, Access Consciousness bars work, night-walking, candle-lit baths, photos, and most of all, holding space for your mama as she found her way through the intense waves of birth. She—and you— sooo rocked it. Congrats on being the first home birth of your immediate clan. (Your mother shared with me that your great-great grandmother was a midwife!)
I must congratulate you too on the wonderful birth team you gathered: thank you for choosing Jeanette Kleger and Laura Mackin from Born Naturally Midwifery (Vernon, BC) to be your awesome midwives. Thank you too for bringing Abbie-girl of Valley Doula Collective & Abbie photography+writing into my life. We have discovered that we work well as an unspoken doula team, cover each other well with a camera, and love to consume yummy food and conversation together. (Bonus? Now that I have such outstanding back-up, I can keep on!)
In so much gratitude for you and your willingness to let the process unfold,
P.s. All photos shot jointly by myself & Abbie; edited by me for continuity.
Lastly, a poem “came to” as I posted your photos:
Strength in laughter
Following the waves
to give in
